Hawaii Day 7: Kauaii

Today we had another fabulous Hawaiian french toast breakfast at Olympic Cafe in Kapa'a.  We then did some shopping and touring around and then waited for Damen to pick us up for lunch at Grannys. After lunch at Grannys, he took us to the North side of the island.  We saw some amazing beaches, climbed up to Queens Bath and then had a coconut husk bonfire on a beach!  Amazing day to say the least!

my pre breakfast meal of starfruit in the warm morning Hawaiian sunshine, with the beautiful ocean right behind me

picking up some drinks for the trip in Wailua

the kids didn't get to really see the beach because they both passed out for a nap on the way there and stayed sleeping even when we stopped and all got out.

taking a playground break for the kids in Princeville, right before we do our hike to Queens Bath

So we saw queens bath on all the tourist videos, but the one thing they all left out is the gigantic and rather treacherous hike just to get there.  Not to mention the numerous plaques that have tallies of how many people have died in queens bath.  Not daunting at all right.....Once you finally get to the ocean, you still have make another treacherous walk across a bunch of lava rock with more signs warning about huge dangerous waves that can sweep you right off in the ocean and....you guessed it.  You could die here too! haha Well at least it was beautiful!  Being up there looking out on the ocean from this point of view made me really see the amazing and majestic work of the Lords hands.  I was in complete awe.  There were no words.

the waves were so rough that when they came in, Queens Bath literally disapp
eared under the waves.  No wonder people have died here.  Mind you, you do have to be a complete idiot for jumping into the water in these conditions!

One of the most beautiful sunsest I have ever seen.  Being this high up, and in such a majestic place made it that much more wonderful.

taking a much needed water break after that hike.  It was so beautiful and I am so glad we did it!

Damen getting the husks positioned for the fire

It was so much fun having a bon fire on a beach!  Thats a first for me
